Rdg/LA Syllabus: Week of April 28

Important Information:
• We will begin Literature Circles this week. We will do a modified version of lit circles because I was did not receive enough parent volunteers. Students will receive all the details/requirements this week.
• Students will receive their edited rough drafts on Tuesday, April 29. They have one week to make all corrections; the final draft is due on Tuesday, May 6. Remember the final research paper must have the following; cover page, final draft, works consulted page, final outline, and adult edited rough draft (students will lose points if they do not have all of these items included in this order).
• The research visual aid tri-fold board is due on Thursday, May 8. Students received a rubric with all of the requirements last week.
• We are having a research fair on Monday, May 12 from 2:20 to 3:20pm. This will give all the students on the team a chance to view each other’s boards and present their information. Parents are more than welcome to attend!
• Our LAST reading log of the year is due on Wednesday, May 28.

• The Differentiation Challenge Packet is due on Thursday, May 1. They also must have the student created Lesson 7.5 Challenge Worksheet completed (please type this). The final differentiated project is due on Wednesday, May 7.
• Students who did well on the pre-assessment but have not yet mastered all the skills will have opportunities throughout the unit to work on individual lesson differentiated activities.

LA Syllabus: Week of April 21

Research

Important Information:
• All students must have a Tri-Fold Presentation Board by Monday, April 21 for the research visual aid. Students will receive the visual aid rubric and requirements on Monday, April 21.
• Our LAST reading log of the year is due on Wednesday, May 28!
• On Wednesday, April 23 I will send home research papers for parents who volunteered to help edit. The edited rough draft will be returned to students by Tuesday, April 29.
• The sixth grade end of the field trip permission slip and money was due on Friday, April 18. If you did not turn yours or make special arrangements with me in you will not be attending the trip.
• Parents- I sent home Literature Circle Parent Volunteer Letters last week. Please check your schedules and let me know if you are available to help out. Thanks!

• Students will take a quiz on Lessons 9.6-9.7 and 10.6-10.7 on Tuesday, April 8. Students will be allowed to make a hand written study sheet on one side of a ¼ piece of paper.
• Before ISAT testing we completed a mini unit on fractions. Students will take a fraction pre-assessment on Wednesday, April 9 to determine their fraction knowledge. Students who show mastery of the concepts with a 90% or better on the test will receive differentiated activities and projects to complete while the remainder of the class reviews the fraction skills again with more detail. Students will receive their results of the Pre-Assessment on Friday, 4/11.
